โœ… Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
  • Format: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

  • Total Marks: 500 (125 Questions ร— 4 Marks)

  • Duration: 2 Hours

  • Negative Marking: 0.80 marks for each incorrect answer

  • Purpose: Qualifying exam to shortlist candidates for the Mains

  • Papers:

    • Civil Law I โ€“ 200 Marks

    • Civil Law II โ€“ 200 Marks

    • Criminal Law โ€“ 200 Marks

    • English Language โ€“ 100 Marks

    • Hindi Language (Devanagari script) โ€“ 100 Marks

    • General Knowledge (Current Events & Legal Awareness) โ€“ 100 Marks

  • Duration: 3 Hours per paper

  • Qualifying Marks: Minimum 40% in each paper to be eligible for interview

  • Minimum Qualifying:

    • General Category: 50%

    • Reserved Categories: 45%

  • Selection is based on performance in Mains and Interview combined


๐ŸŽ“ Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
  • Must hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from a recognized university

  • Must be eligible to practice as an advocate under the Advocates Act

Age Limit (as on cutoff date)
  • Minimum: 21 years

  • Maximum: 42 years

  • Age Relaxation:

    • SC/ST/BC of Haryana: 5 years

    • Women (Unmarried/Widowed/Divorced): Up to 45 years

    • PwBD (Haryana): 10 years

    • PwBD + SC/ST: Up to 55 years

Other Conditions
  • Must be a citizen of India

  • Must have studied Hindi/Sanskrit up to Matric level

  • Must be of sound mind and good moral character

  • Must meet all health standards required by the government

  • Question papers are in English

  • One paper each for English and Hindi language skills

  • Hindi paper includes essay writing, prรฉcis, translation, and grammar
