 Arab League

  • Origin: Intergovernmental organisation encompassing all Arab states in Middle East and North Africa, established on March 22, 1945, following adoption of Alexandria Protocol in 1944. 
  • Members: 22. 
  • Founding members—Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Transjordan, and Yemen. 
  • Headquarters: Cairo, Egypt.
  • Importance of Arab League for India
  • Economic: Trade between India and Arab States stands over US$240 billion.
  • India imports over 47% of crude oil from Arab League countries, and 50% of fertilisers and related products. 
  • Strategic Significance: Most of India’s external trade passes through the Suez Canal, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.
  • Diaspora: Over 9 million Indian diaspora live in Arab League nations

Armenia (Capital: Yerevan)

  • The Chief of Defence Staff of India arrives in Armenia for four-day official visit. 
  • Political Boundaries
  • Location: Landlocked country of Transcaucasia (populated region to the south of the Caucasus Mountains).
  • Bordering Countries: Georgia to the north, Azerbaijan to the east, Iran to the southeast, and Turkey to the west.
  • Nagorno-Karabakh, Ethnic Armenian enclave in Azerbaijan, source of conflict since 1988 have been recently resolved. 

Power Gap Index

  • It is a secondary analysis derived from the Asia Power Index, an annual index produced by the Australia-based Lowy Institute.
  • It measures resources and influence to rank the relative power of states in Asia. 
  • Ranks 27 countries and territories through 131 indicators across 8 thematic measures:
  • Military capability and defence networks, Economic capability and relationships, Diplomatic and cultural influence, as well as Resilience and Future resources.
  • As per 2025 Edition, India is operating below its full strategic potential with a power gap score of -4.0. 

RBI’s Consumer Confidence Survey (CCS) 

  • About: The Consumer Confidence Survey (CCS) is a bi-monthly survey (every alternate month) conducted by the RBI to measure consumer sentiments regarding the prevailing and expected economic conditions. 
  • Coverage: Historically and in its primary form, the CCS has been an urban-focused survey, conducted among households in major metropolitan and urban centres (typically 13–19 cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and others). 
  • The RBI has introduced a separate Rural Consumer Confidence Survey (RCCS) to complement the urban survey.  
  • The RCCS specifically targets rural and semi-urban households across 31 states/ UTs, providing a more inclusive national picture of household sentiments. 

Bharat Parv 2026, a six-day national cultural and tourism festival, was organised by the Ministry of Tourism from 26th–31st January 2026 at the  Red Fort, New Delhi, as part of the Republic Day celebrations. 

  • Organised annually since 2016, the festival serves as a major platform to showcase India’s cultural, artistic, culinary and spiritual heritage, reflecting the country’s unity in diversity. 
  • Bharat Parv 2026 commemorated 150 years of “Vande Mataram”, composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, while actively promoting the national initiatives like “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” and “Dekho Apna Desh.” 
  • A key attraction was the display of 41 Republic Day tableaux from States, Union Territories and Central Ministries, allowing visitors to view the narratives of culture, development and innovation up close. 
  • The festival featured 48 folk and classical cultural performances by State troupes and cultural institutions, along with 22 performances by Armed Forces and paramilitary bands, adding a strong patriotic dimension. 
  • A pan-India food court with over 60 stalls showcased regional cuisines, millet-based dishes and tribal food traditions, emphasising culinary heritage, sustainability and local practices.
