Subansiri River
- About: The Subansiri River, often called the “Gold River” (derived from the local word Subarnashiri), is a major transboundary river flowing through Tibet and India. It is the largest tributary of the Brahmaputra.
- Historically, the river was famous for gold dust found in its bed, which gave the river its name.
- Course and Geography: It rises in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China and enters India through the Miri Hills in Arunachal Pradesh.
- It flows through Arunachal Pradesh and Assam before joining the Brahmaputra River at Jamurighat (Assam).
- Strategic and Ecological Significance: Due to its steep descent from the Himalayas, it has immense potential for hydroelectricity.
- The river basin is part of the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot. It supports a variety of aquatic life, including the endangered Ganges River Dolphin and numerous hill-stream fish species.
I4C
- It is an attached office of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) that provides a comprehensive ecosystem for Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to tackle cybercrime.
- I4C has developed various platforms such as National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP), Cyber-Police, Suspect Registry, etc., which are secure platforms for real-time intelligence sharing and coordination among various stakeholders, including LEAs, Banks and Financial Institutions.
- These platforms help combat cybercrimes, including online financial crimes, by enabling proactive action against the misuse of telecom, banking and other related resources.
Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana?
- About: PMMSY is a flagship scheme launched in September 2020 to bring about a “Blue Revolution” through the sustainable and responsible development of the fisheries sector in India.
- It is implemented by the Department of Fisheries (Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying) and was originally designed for a five-year period (FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25). It is extended up to 2025-26.
- The government has further introduced the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PMMKSSY). This is a sub-scheme of PMMSY focused specifically on formalizing the unorganized fisheries sector and supporting micro-enterprises with an additional investment of over Rs. 6,000 crore.
- It is being implemented for 4 years from FY 2023-24 to FY 2026-27 across all the States and UTs.
CAPF (General Administration) Act, 2026
The Act legally cements the reservation of top leadership posts for Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across all five CAPFs (BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB). Specifically, it mandates:
50% of posts at the Inspector General (IG) rank.
At least 67% of posts at the Additional Director General (ADG) rank.
100% of posts at the Special DG and Director General (DG) ranks.
The legislation designates the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as the defining administrative body. It states that rules made under this Act regarding recruitment, deputation, and service conditions will explicitly override any other existing laws, orders, or court judgments.
